Safer People Handling – Haptonomic Foundations
 Haptonomy is a relatively recent social science that is based on human behaviour and feelings. By applying the cutting edge principles of haptonomy to assist in the safe moving of people you will be adopting a holistic approach, accounting for body posture, movement, actions, expressions, words and gestures. This approach has been developed in order to reduce the risk of physical injury to all those who assist in the movement of others. |
 Who Should Attend?Back Care Advisors, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Manual/Safer People Handling Trainers and others involved in the direct physical handling of people in a variety of social care, health and education settings. Delegates must have prior knowledge of the principles of handling people. What will the delegate bring back to the workplace? ● An understanding of how haptonomic principles can play a role in assisting people ● An understanding of the relationship between the quality of work and the quality of people care ● Knowledge of the options formanually assisting people depending on their mobility ● The ability to adopt a strategic and problemsolving approach to assessing transfer situations ● The skills to use haptonomic principles tomove people in a responsible way. |
