Aims & Objectives
To develop delegates’ skills in promoting safer home environments within their client group, by developing skills and knowledge in: -
- Identifying causes of accidents in the home
- Identifying methods of accident prevention
- Relevant legislation – Housing, Product Safety, Health & Safety at Work Act
- Using the media to good effect
- Effective meetings
- Effective interventions and sharing best practice
- Methods of evaluation.
Who is the course intended for?
The role of voluntary and professional practitioners in promoting accident prevention is vital if there is to be a long-term reduction in attendance at A&E departments and GP surgeries. Home accidents can lead to unnecessary pain and suffering and to long stays in hospital. This course is designed to provide an overview of the accident problem and an insight into injury prevention in critical areas.
The course is designed for anyone who has Home Safety as a part of his or her remit.
Prior knowledge
Prior knowledge of Home Accident Prevention is not essential.

Qualification and Certification
All delegates will receive both a City & Guilds and RoSPA certificate of training on successful completion of the end of course examination. This course qualifies for CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points, if applicable.
