Pitch Quality and Maintenance Training Course

Course designed for:

The elementary course will demonstrate basics practices required to maintain amenity turf. The course explains how to do the list of operations listed below and their effect on the grass plant, soil and surface.

A RoSPA Certificate of Training will be given to all participants who complete the course. Please contact our offices regarding IOG/RoSPA Certification.

Timing and Venue

Start: 9.30 am
Coffee: 11.00 pm
Lunch: 12.30 pm
End: 4.30 pm

Venue: Malvern College, Malvern, Worcestershire

A training pack will be provided.

Course syllabus includes:

  • Mowing
  • Aeration
  • Fertilising
  • Irrigation
  • Surface preparation: harrowing, brushing and rolling
  • Surface renovation: Scarification, top dressing seeding
  • Pest, weed and Diseases
  • Health and Safety

Course Tutor

The course tutor is Alan Lewis, the last person in the UK to be awarded the title of Master Groundsman. Alan is principle lecturer for the Institute of Groundsmen.

Note: Prices listed are for non-RoSPA clients i.e. those who do not have RoSPA annual inspections. If you have annual playground inspections by RoSPA, you may be eligible to receive a discount against the price of a course. Contact us for details.

Training for Inspections, Standards and Risk Assessment

One Day Course
This one day training course provides a basic introduction to inspecting and maintaining children's playgrounds. It is designed for staff members who have day-to-day responsibility for playground safety and inspections. This highly visual presentation is ideal for small groups up to fifteen. Basic requirements are for a comfortable room with good blackout. Access to playground for a practical site inspection is required. Course notes and a Certificate of Attendance are provided.

Two Day Course
