Managing Safety at Inland Waters 2019

Free regional workshops

Next available workshop: Manchester, The Bridgewater Hall – 27 September 2019

Future dates to be confirmed, please use the booking form to request notification.

Nationally, over half of all accidental drowning deaths happen at our inland waters, on average 250 lives lost each year.  There is good evidence and insight as to where and when these events occur, who they involve, how and why they happen. Importantly, we have a series of tools and examples, alongside a emerging body of case law which highlights acceptable and good practise to help inform duty holders decisions and approaches.

These workshops will focus on both the practical steps and decisions taken. It is an opportunity for risk managers and those responsible for open spaces and waterways to reflect upon their own practice, network with peers and consider how other communities have addressed this issue.

All workshops will involve a site visit and walk of a minimum one-hour. Those attending should dress accordingly. Please contact us if you may require support for this event.

The workshops are free to attend, held on a rolling basis at locations around the country chosen to highlight key or emerging issues.
