Safer People Handling Risk Assessment
Teaching delegates how to carry out suitable and sufficient moving and handling risk assessments
What is a moving and handling risk assessment?
Moving and handling risk assessments help identify where injuries could occur and what to do to prevent them. It is vital that suitable and sufficient risk assessments are carried out in health and social care settings wherever people-handling activities take place. The implementation of suitable risk controls, will help to ensure that the safety and health the workforce and that service users are safeguarded.
Why take moving and handling risk assessment training?
Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHOR) (as amended 2002) require employers to assess the risks to employees' health involved in moving and handling objects at work and to remove or minimise these risks. Carrying out a risk assessment within your organisation has a number of benefits. Most obviously, it will allow your organisation to risk assess any operations which will highlight any risks, which in turn will allow you to minimise these risks by putting in sufficient and effective control measures.
Who should carry out a moving and handling risk assessment?
The person carrying out the risk assessments must be competent to identify and address the risks from the most complex handling activities undertaken and have responsibility for carrying out moving and handling risk assessments in the health or social care sector.
