With over 3700 guests, the event saw over 1000 winners stepping up to the podium to receive their awards. We would like to thank all of our winners and guests for making the event such a success, and look forward to our Awards ceremony in Scotland this September.

Thanks for the support

Accidents are the biggest killer of children and young people. And so our centenary has seen the launch of the Brighter Beginnings Appeal. We are desperate to give parents the support they need to keep the under-fives safe. With generous donations from gala dinner guests, we have so far raised over £15,000. These donations will be used to distribute free Keeping Kids Safe packs to disadvantaged families across the UK. A huge thank you goes to all winners and guests for making this possible!

RoSPA Archangel Award

We were once again proud to present two Archangel Awards at this year's ceremonies, recognising individual commitment to safety and accident prevention.

RoSPA were honoured to present Jason Anker with an Archangel Award at our Birmingham Ceremony. Jason was paralysed from the waist down, following an avoidable accident on a construction site. His accident left him unable to talk about his experience for many years, but in 2009 he began to, leading to an engaging presentation communicating the essence of safety in a raw, engaging way. The demand for his presentations led to the development of the Proud 2 Be Safe programme which challenges a 'beyond compliance' commitment to safety, engaging workforces using speakers, events and workshops.

Chris Wood also received an Archangel Award at our London ceremony for overcoming adversity to embrace his role as a significant safety influencer. Following a workplace accident Chris seized the opportunity to influence the safety of others, and is now responsible for delivering safety training to more than four hundred staff working at Marlborough Surfacing.
