Fundraise for RoSPA

Tom Knowles

  1. Decide what you are going to do – a range of ideas can be found here
  2. Choose a date and time (and a suitable venue, if needed)
  3. Set deadlines and stick to them – and don't be afraid to ask for help!
  4. Depending on what you choose to do, you may need a budget to cover resources/equipment/venue hire
  5. Is it safe? If you are holding an event, you will need to think about the possible harms that could occur as a result of your activities and how you can best avoid them. Our risk assessment form will help you do this. The Health and Safety Executive offers practical advice via its Five Steps To Risk Assessment
  6. If you are planning an event, think about whether you need first aid cover. Do you need to notify the police or fire service that your event is taking place?
  7. If you're arranging outdoor activities, have a plan B in case the great British weather decides to misbehave
  8. If you are doing a street collection, you will need a permit from your local council. Details of how to apply for one will be on their website
  9. Think about how you will get sponsorship and support. Download our sponsor form so people can see you're raising money for RoSPA. Alternatively, set up a JustGiving page that is linked to RoSPA's own page
  10. Contact your local paper, TV or radio station to see if they will help publicise your efforts/event - click here for a press release template which will help with writing your very own press release. Use social media too – and don't forget the old-fashioned method of posters in the local shop or library. All publicity materials should state "In aid of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, registered charity number 207823"
  11. Let us know what you're planning by filling in and returning our fundraising agreement. We can supply our logo for you to use and, if you need it, send you a formal letter authorising you to fundraise on our behalf.

Sending the funds to RoSPA

If you have a JustGiving page linked to RoSPA's, the money will be sent to us directly so you don't need to do anything. We can also accept BACS donations – contact for more information. Please note that we are no longer able to accept cheques.
