Keeping kids safe through free telephone help.
Lifeline - RoSPA's freephone helpline - gives parents and carers someone to talk to if they need accident prevention help.
It's a free service so there's no barrier to phoning in and calls are welcome on any subject related to keeping kids safe from accidents.
There's a lot to talk about! From child car seats, blind cords and liquid laundry capsules to button batteries, garden ponds and nappy sacks, our Lifeline staff are happy to offer advice or to point callers to sources of further information.
Accidents are the biggest killer of children and young people up to the age of 19 across the UK. They also cause millions of injuries and, each year, at least half of under-5s visit A&E because they've had an accident.
Yet it doesn't have to be like this.
In a survey we conducted to mark the start of our centenary year, nearly a third (30 per cent) of parents told us they had never received or sought advice or information about keeping their child(ren) safe from accidents. More than half (55 per cent) agreed that there should be more information and advice for parents about keeping children safe from accidents and 57 per cent said that information should be easier to find.
This is where Lifeline comes in.
We also have a Keeping Kids Safe hub online and will be distributing parent packs through our partner organisations.
