Family Safety Week is upon us!
The national campaign by RoSPA is this year raising awareness about five topics: falls, choking, bath time, household poisons, and bedtime. Accidents are the biggest killer of children and young people, and every week at least one child under-five is killed because of an accident, with disadvantaged children most at risk. So we’re shining a spotlight on simple things you can do to stop your child becoming an accident statistic.
Throughout the week we’ll be sharing advice on good safety habits to get into, and the things you really need to buy to help keep your little ones safe, as well as visiting children’s centres all over the UK to distribute the first of the Keeping Kids Safe packs.
This week, in aid of our Brighter Beginnings Appeal, provides an opportunity to help those most at risk of accidents, and spread safety messages in person and via our social media.
The first event of the week, held in Dundee yesterday, saw chief executive of RoSPA Errol Taylor meeting with families and recipients of the packs. Throughout the week we will also be holding informational events in Birmingham and Harrow, London, while we will be partnering with organisations across the UK to hold Safety and Health Awareness Days.
There’s still time for you to get involved! You could run a family safety day for your staff, put on a child safety session for parents, or simply share our resources and tips with friends or on social media.
