“Best Awards by an Association” win for RoSPA at Awards Awards

An international-renowned awards scheme from the Royal Society for the Prevention Accidents (RoSPA) has won a prestigious Awards Awards title in the “Best Awards by an Association” category.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards has nearly 2,000 entrants from over 30 countries, from organisations across multiple sectors, and that have a combined reach of more than seven million people.

The majority of the awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at Merit, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Gold Medals, President’s Awards, Orders of Distinction and the Patron’s Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the Gold level over consecutive years.

Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education. There are specialist awards for health at work, environmental management and fleet safety, and excellence trophies for the best international, new entry, workforce involvement and organisation operating or based in Scotland. RoSPA’s top accolade is the Sir George Earle Trophy.

The team behind the awards was presented with their own gong at the Awards Awards on Friday (May 17), winning Best Awards by an Association.

Julia Small, RoSPA head of awards and events said: “We’re really pleased to be recognised in this category. This win is a result of lots of hard work and team effort. A lot of preparation goes into the events, which are held in three locations across the UK. We’re grateful to all our entrants, judges, sponsors and suppliers for making the RoSPA Awards the success that they are. We’re always looking at ways to improve and grow the categories, and this award shows firms we’re on the right track.”

The Awards Awards judges said: “This is a great submission and highlights the role the awards play in educating and recognising excellence in H&S. It is clear that RoSPA is the industry leader in the H&S awards sector. The supporting evidence they have supplied from entrants really reinforces this and the importance of the awards to the sector.”

Headline sponsor of the RoSPA Awards 2019 is NEBOSH – the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health – for the 14th consecutive year.
