Banksman Train the Trainer

Guiding your fleet to safety during vehicle manoeuvres

What is the Banksman Train the Trainer course?

This 5 day Banksman course is a cost-effective alternative for organisations wishing to train a sizeable number of employees. The course aims to give delegates the knowledge and skills to educate colleagues in banksman skills and procedures.

Why take the Banksman Train the Trainer course?

Delegates will gain the knowledge and ability to teach banksman skills in-house, saving your organisation time and money on future training. More suitably trained personnel will ultimately result in the fewer injuries as a result of high risk reversing manoeuvres.

Who is the Banksman Train the Trainer for?

This Banksman Train the Trainer course is designed for in house trainers, managers or supervisors who are responsible for training potential banksmen and maintaining the health and safety of staff and visitors in areas where LGV’s are required to manoeuvre.

What does the Banksman Train the Trainer cover?

This course aims to give delegates the knowledge and skills to educate colleagues in banksman skills and procedures.

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:
  • Teach others of the dangers of reversing
  • Train others in practical techniques and hand signals to reduce risks
  • Identify areas of danger around the site and offer recommendations for improvement
  • Demonstrate HSE’s recommended code of signals
  • Guide Large Goods Vehicles (rigid and articulated) using the above code of signals
  • Risk assess and report
  • Present and teach skills to delegates
Additional information:
  • Good working knowledge of banksman signals required
  • Delegates should wear suitable clothing, bearing in mind that the practical aspects of the course will be outdoors
  • An LGV is essential. To get the best out of the training, organisations are encouraged to supply an additional driver for the practical elements of the course
  • Training takes place on a 3:1 delegate to trainer ratio
  • A good sized area of the yard, that is not in use, must be made available to conduct the training to ensure trainer and delegate safety. This must not involve using a public road
  • A vehicle must be supplied for use during training. We recommend that the type of vehicle supplied is similar to the type the yard is usually in receipt of, but if this is not possible a car or van can be used as long as the back windows are covered to get a realistic view of bringing a vehicle in safely.

Where can I take the Banksman Train the Trainer course?

We recognise that everyone is different and will work with organisations to deliver training in the workplace at a time and date that meets your business needs.

We can visit your workplace and deliver the course at a time and place to suit you. This is an effective way of training several delegates at the same time, saving on time and travel costs
