Abrasive Wheel Safety

This practical hands-on course is a must for anyone using Abrasive Wheels.

The risk of breakage is inherent in every abrasive wheel. If the number of breakages, and therefore accidents, is to be kept low, the initial care exercised in the design, manufacture and testing by machine makers must be combined with the adoption of safety measures by the users. Accident statistics indicate that nearly half of all accidents involving abrasive wheels occur because of an unsafe system of work or operator error.

With regards to abrasive wheels, PUWER 98 (The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) requires, among other things, that all machinery is suitable for its intended use and is properly maintained. All employees, including those using, mounting and managing the operation of abrasive wheels, should be fully informed and properly trained in their safe use.

  • Delegates will have an understanding of the legal requirements behind abrasive wheel safety
  • On completion of the course, delegates will be able to have the ability to set abrasive wheels safety
  • An understand of the requirements of the schedule of training
  • This course is delivered within our practical workshop and can also be delivered within your organisation.
