What is the defensive driver refresher course?

This defensive driver refresher course is the ideal way to ensure your drivers undergo continuous professional development by reinforcing the skills of defensive driving. Driver behaviour is the root cause of most traffic incidents therefore this half-day course will revisit safe decision-making whilst also updating their defensive driving skills.

What is defensive driving?

Defensive driving is a set of skills and techniques, which help you to identify and prepare for potential hazards and react appropriately. This refresher course will revisit the principles of defensive driving, advancing your skills in:

  • Planning for the unexpected

  • Managing your speed

  • Risk management

  • Vehicle control, positioning and space management

  • Parking and manoeuvring at low speed

  • Staying alert and aware.

Why take the defensive driver refresher course?

In the year ending June 2021, there were 24,530 killed or seriously injured on UK roads. Globally, road deaths are the eighth highest cause of death for people of all ages. Updating your defensive driving will help you become a better and safer driver, reducing the number of accidents that have the potential to end lives or change them forever.
