RoSPA Level 3 Award in Behavioural Driver Training (RFS International Customised Award)

The Level 3 Award in Behavioural Driver Training (RFS International Customised Award) is delivered over 10 days and incorporates both coaching skills and driving ability throughout, providing the theoretical knowledge and practical abilities to be a great trainer!

The course is built around 3 learning outcomes:

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of traffic laws and procedures
• Demonstrate appropriate levels of driving skills with instructional commentary as required
• Demonstrate the ability to coach and facilitate learning in a classroom and on road using a client centered approach

Participants will be required to take and pass 3 final assessments during which they will be given the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired knowledge and skills.

Participants will also need to successfully meet a number of assessment criteria throughout the course in order to meet the stated learning outcomes.

During the course, participants will learn about:

• Driver behaviour and the goals for driver education
• Coaching and client centered learning
• Facilitation skills - including communication, questioning and listening
• The benefits of using a coaching model to structure a learning intervention
• The learning cycle and reflective practice
• IPSGA (information, position, speed, gear, accelerate), the system of car control based on 'Roadcraft' - the UK police handbook
• Space management, hazard management; and the use of instructional commentary as a learning tool

• This qualification consists of a 10 day training course with a minimum of 70 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).  This qualification can accommodate 3 delegates per trainer and a separate trainer will be required for the assessment phase of the course to ensure quality control. If there are 4 or more delegates, RoSPA will send two trainers and they will swap groups on the final day for the assessments.

• All successful delegates will receive an official RoSPA Qualification’s Certificate confirming their qualification
• Trainers certified to deliver RoSPA’s Level 2 Award within organisations will improve the end-user service
• Successful delegates have the ability to deliver RoSPA’s Level 2 Award in Defensive Driving
• Organisations with trainers that have passed this course can apply to become a recognised centre through RoSPA Qualifications, which will enable the delivery of our Level 2 qualification
• Course approval or Accreditation can be purchased in addition to training which will mean your courses and/or organisation are supported with RoSPA’s stamp of approval
