What is the IOSH Working Safely course?

This IOSH course is an international safety certificate based on best practice and provides an awareness of general workplace hazards and focuses on why health and safety is important to the well-being of the individual worker and those around them. The course is equivalent to a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

Who can study the IOSH Working Safely course?

IOSH Working Safely is an essential course for employees of organisations in any industry sector who need a grounding in health and safety.

What does the IOSH Working Safely course cover?

IOSH Working Safely covers the essentials of health and safety in the workplace.

The course is divided into four modules:
  • Introducing working safely
  • Defining hazard and risk
  • Identifying common hazards
  • Improving safety performance

How long is the IOSH Working Safely course?

The course is taught over one-day via classroom learning or 4-8 hours for online course.

How is the IOSH Working Safely course assessed?

Assessment depends on how you choose to study. If you study in the classroom the multiple-choice examination and hazard spotting exercise are completed at the end of the course. If you study online, the course and assessment must be completed within five months of registration.

Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, students are awarded a Working Safely certificate from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the world’s largest health and safety membership organisation.

Where can I study the IOSH Working Safely course?
