RoSPA awards scheme shortlisted for top accolade

RoSPA’s prestigious Health and Safety Awards is in the running to win its own accolade after reaching the finals of the Awards Awards 2017.

The safety charity’s awards scheme, which recognises the outstanding health and safety record of businesses and organisations from the UK and overseas, has been shortlisted as a finalist within the Best Judging Panel and Process for an Award category.

To be shortlisted, RoSPA had to show that its awards scheme had “the most prestigious judging panel and most robust and/or innovative judging process used in an awards event”.  It also demonstrated:

  • A simple but effective entry or nomination process
  • A strong and well regarded judging panel
  • A rigorous and efficient judging system
  • Positive feedback from attendees and entrants.

The winner will be announced during a ceremony in London on Friday, May 12.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Awards Awards 2017, which recognises excellence and exceptional quality. Our team works tirelessly every year to put together the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, so to be recognised for our efforts is a fantastic achievement. We would be over the moon to be announced as the winner.

“The RoSPA Awards allow businesses and organisations to showcase their commitment to their staff, customers and clients, and are always a highlight in the corporate calendar.”

Andrew Perry, one of the Awards Awards judges and managing director of the Oil & Gas Awards, added: “Recognition at the Awards Awards is testament to one’s determination, strength and professionalism.”

RoSPA’s Health and Safety Awards scheme, now in its 61st year, is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK, and one of the most prestigious in the world in any discipline.

As this year marks RoSPA’s centenary, a new level of award, a Patron’s Award, will be introduced to recognise those organisations which have achieved consecutive Golds over 25 years or more.

Individuals who promote safety in their workplace or with their communities are also recognised through the Guardian Angel Awards, which run alongside the Health and Safety Awards.

Presentation ceremonies for the RoSPA Awards will be held in London, co-located with Safety and Health Expo 2017, as well as in Birmingham and Glasgow. They will take place at ExCeL London on June 20, the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on July 12-13 and the Hilton Glasgow on September 14.

Organisations wishing to enter the RoSPA Awards and receive their award at the Glasgow ceremony still have time to register – with the registration deadline being April 28.
