How RoSPA Qualifications can strengthen your training courses
RoSPA Qualifications has been working in partnership with Adapt & Live, including recently accrediting its training courses and developing a regulated qualification for it to offer.
Training and information service, Adapt & Live, provides advice to members of the public and healthcare professionals. It is part of the 128-year-old charity Disabled Living, which offers specialist services to help people with disabilities and long-term health conditions live with independence, comfort and safety.
Adapt & Live was one of the stakeholders in the development of RoSPA’s Level 2 Award in Proportionate/Single Handed Care Practice – an innovative approach to moving and handling that focuses on delivering dignified, personalised and efficient support which is proportionate to each individual’s needs, ensuring they receive the right level of care and assistance to maintain safety, comfort, independence and wellbeing. The approach can be applied confidently across a wide range of healthcare and social care settings, supporting consistent, person‑centred practice.
After becoming part of the stakeholder group that developed the qualification, Adapt & Live’s relationship with RoSPA has continued to grow, with RoSPA Qualifications developing a regulated trusted assessor course for Adapt & Live to offer and accrediting its training qualifications.
We talked to the Adapt & Live Chief Executive, Sonya Carassik Ratty, about how the relationship with RoSPA has developed:
“When we became involved in the proportionate care stakeholder group, it was clear that RoSPA was really listening to what is needed and paying attention to the evolving culture in health and social care,” says Sonya. “This provided the opportunity for various workshops and was our on-ramp to offering the proportionate/single-handed care qualification ourselves as a RoSPA Qualifications Centre.
“From the first meeting, we could tell that RoSPA was on a similar wavelength, and with their expertise in the accreditation of healthcare-associated courses, it was clearly an ideal pairing for us. Both of our initial upcoming RoSPA accredited courses are fully booked.
“The support from RoSPA has been responsive rather than prescriptive. In the ongoing meetings we have been listened to, have been given time to work through questions and communication has been efficient and expedient.
“RoSPA offers an efficient, well structured, tried and tested process. Their rigorous and efficient systems are a pleasure to work with, and their team clearly have a solid understanding of the delivery of healthcare training, and what is important. This matches our own competency-led approach and leads to a high sense of confidence in their internal development processes and external quality control.
“This ultimately benefits our reputation, our trainees, and - most importantly - the wellbeing of service users, patients and members of the public.
“Working with RoSPA is contributing to our strategic goal of strengthening our training offering, and ensuring we are working to the gold standard.”
