How Access Learning uses RoSPA Course Assurance to build trust in health and safety training

As one of the UK's leading e-learning providers, Access Learning wanted more than internal quality checks for its health and safety portfolio. Through RoSPA Course Assurance, the organisation gained expert validation, valuable feedback and a trusted mark of quality that resonates with customers.

Access Learning is part of The Access Group, a UK-based software and content provider. Access Learning’s portfolio spans over 450 e-learning titles and health and safety is one of its largest and most established subject areas. Over 90 of its core H&S titles have gone through RoSPA Course Assurance as part of the organisation’s ongoing content review programme.

Scott Peplow is Access Learning’s Learning Content Manager, leading the e-learning content team. We talked to Scott about the value of independent course assurance, the impact it has had on course quality, and why RoSPA's trusted reputation matters to both Access Learning and its customers.

What led you to seek RoSPA Course Assurance?

Scott says: “Health and safety content carries real consequences if it's wrong — for our customers and their employees. We wanted independent, credible validation that our courses met the standard our customers expect, beyond our own internal QA. It also helps us stand out in a crowded market where lots of providers claim their content is ‘compliant’ without third-party proof.”

What made RoSPA Qualifications the right choice for your course assurance needs?

RoSPA's reputation in health and safety speaks for itself — it's a name our customers already recognise and trust. That mattered as much as the assurance process itself; the logo carries weight because RoSPA carries weight.”

What was your experience of the course assurance process from application to approval?

“Straightforward and well-structured. The process was clear about what was needed at each stage, and the feedback we received was constructive rather than just pass/fail — it felt like a genuine quality review, not a box-ticking exercise.”

How did the review process help strengthen your course content, structure or delivery?

“The assessor feedback pushed us to sharpen how we structured learning outcomes and evidenced competency within the courses, not just the accuracy of the H&S content itself. It's fed into how we approach course design more broadly across our review cycles.”

Has Course Assurance helped you win business, build trust or strengthen your reputation?

“Being able to point to RoSPA Course Assurance gives customers — particularly those in regulated or higher-risk sectors — an extra layer of confidence when choosing us over competitors. It's a differentiator we can lead with in conversations, especially with procurement teams who need to justify their choice of training provider.

“The RoSPA Course Assured logo is a visible signal to our customers that our health and safety content has been independently scrutinised by one of the most respected names in the industry — it backs up what we say about quality with something external and credible.”

What would you say to another organisation considering Course Assurance?

“Do it if you're serious about your content, not just your marketing claims. It's a genuine quality check that will make your courses better, not just a badge to slap on your website.”
