RoSPA Scotland Water Safety Conference and Open Day

Thanks to generous funding from RNLI, Scottish Water and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, RoSPA, in collaboration with Water Safety Scotland (WSS), are hosting two events over the spring and summer in Scotland.

The first, is an online conference, which is suited to practitioner level and will feature information and discussion on the interim review of Scotland’s Drowning Prevention Strategy.

The second event will be an ‘in person’ open day for anyone to come and see how agencies and organisations are working together to deliver water safety and drowning prevention in Scotland.

Drowning Prevention: Working in Partnership to Keep the Momentum Going

This first event will be a virtual conference and will provide the opportunity for members and practitioners to learn all about WSS and the progress that has been made since the implementation of Scotland’s Drowning Prevention Strategy.

Once signed up to the virtual conference, delegates will receive access to pre-recorded presentations and then have the opportunity to attend a 1.5 hour ‘live’ event on April 7th. This ‘live’ event will feature a speakers’ panel in which delegates can ask questions, form discussion and consider ways to move forward together in drowning prevention and water safety in Scotland. The session will focus on four key themes:

  • The Drowning and Incident Review (DIR)

  • Water safety education

  • A Partnership Approach to Water Safety (PAWS)

  • Suicide prevention

Pre-recorded presentations will include input from RoSPA, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Education Scotland, Samaritans Scotland and The Scottish Adventure Activities Forum.
