Exhibition seminars for DFA Media

About the client - DFA Media

DFA Media is a publishing company who run the UK's largest bi-annual manufacturing and engineering exhibitions: Drives and Controls, Air-Tech Expo, IFPEX and Plant & Works.

Event brief

  • Research, develop and confirm content for two seminar theatres - one for the Drives and Controls/Plant and Works Exhibition and the other for the International Fluid Power Exhibition (IFPEX)/Air-Tech Exhibitions. Each theatre had its own relevant and distinctive programme that ran concurrent in the exhibitions
  • Complete management of each seminar theatre and all speakers during the three days.

The solution

  • A variety of presentations ranging from technical seminars to marketing strategy to finance helped visitors understand the often misunderstood concept of lending criteria and what banks look for in manufacturers in today's financial world
  • The seminar programme covered a broad range of subjects specifically chosen for their topicality and relevance to today's increasingly multi-tasking engineers. The seminars also gave delegates the opportunity to pick up best practice tips and valuable advice from a variety of speakers, representing a cross section of the engineering and manufacturing sector
  • Speakers included the Carbon Trust, British Compressed Air Society, British Fluid Power Association, Centre of Vibro-Acoustics and Fatigue at Cranfield University, Gambica Trade Association, the British Institute of Non- Destructive Testing (Bindt), the Institution of Diagnostic Engineers, plus many more.

Client quote

"It has been an absolute pleasure working with the exhibition arm of RoSPA. RoSPA won the contract to organise the full seminar programme for our series of bi-annual exhibitions at the NEC Birmingham, which attracted in excess of 11,000 visitors, after tough competition from traditional events management sources. But their professional, flexible, and charismatic approach and understanding of our needs in addition to access to leading organisations and past experience of organising large scale events made our decision easy.

The short lead-up time to the exhibitions didn't deter them from giving themselves tough deadlines, which were kept to. At all times we were kept informed and made aware of any problems or issues, which were dealt with in a constructive and positive manner and consequently provided solutions to potentially difficult situations.

RoSPA's approach to dealing with our request for certain speakers from specific organisations to be represented in the seminar programme was met with an extremely proactive response and we were given an action plan to how this would be achieved - and was.

Despite the numerous hurdles which presented themselves throughout the lead-up time to the event, RoSPA achieved a remarkable job in planning and running the seminar programme, both behind the scenes and on the show floor throughout the three-day event.

We have had numerous comments of praise from both speakers and visitors alike on the quality of the seminar programme."
