Health and safety professionals to tackle the issue of an ageing workforce

Occupational safety and health professionals will be gaining insights into the issues posed by an ageing population and sustaining working lives, at a one-off seminar in Glasgow.

The seminar, jointly funded by RoSPA and the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), will enable delegates to influence future direction and development of tools in the area of maintaining a healthy workforce into older age.

Talks and discussions will be held throughout the morning, at Glasgow Caledonian University tomorrow morning (Friday, November 3), on a range of subjects including preventing falls, and sharing best practice from across Europe.

Dr Karen McDonnell, RoSPA’s occupational safety and health policy adviser, said: “The ageing workforce is an issue facing employers, not just here in the UK, but right across the whole of Europe.

“By sharing with and learning from partners and others in the health and safety arena, we can ensure that we are as prepared as possible to face the problems this issue brings. Tomorrow’s seminar is the perfect opportunity to do so.”
