Drink driving

Although the level of drinking and driving has dropped dramatically over the last three decades, approximately 250 people are still killed in drink-drive collisions every year.

It’s not just the drivers who have been drinking who suffer — passengers, people in other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and the families and friends of everyone involved are also affected. In 2023, 140 pedestrians were killed or seriously injured by drink drivers alone.

Clearly, there is still much to do to prevent drink-drive collisions, deaths, and injuries.
