Working together to deliver international health and safety messages

The ambition of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) is to build an open, learning organisation where staff are actively encouraged to suggest ideas and experiment.

GPIC considers itself a role model in the protection of the environment and was the first industrial company to use practical demonstration projects to verify the environmental credentials of its operations.

Our partnership

Our strategic partnership with GPIC stems from the company’s firm belief that improving health, safety and care for the environment is a borderless pursuit that must be adopted and encouraged by all.

GPIC vows to continue its support of us and ensure that all responsible global organisations share their endeavours, so that every workplace, home and place of leisure has accident prevention at its core.

Health and Safety Awards

GPIC's association with the annual RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is of particular note. Its journey through the scheme began in the early 1990s, when the organisation initially won a bronze achievement award. In 2005, having climbed through the award ranks, GPIC reached the pinnacle of success when it was named the winner of the highest accolade in the RoSPA Awards – the Sir George Earle Trophy. The internationally-recognised trophy is presented in honour of a firm's outstanding occupational health and safety management performance.

"Winning the Sir George Earle Trophy in 2005 was a singular honour, which we shall utilise to extend our safety, health and environment philosophy in industry locally and regionally, as well as internationally."

Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery
General Manager, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co

Alongside its own RoSPA Awards successes, generous GPIC sponsorship led to the creation of a new award in 2007 – the International Dilmun Environmental Award. We both believe that businesses have a fundamental role to play in enhancing and protecting the environment and that by providing recognition for an environmental "champion", others can be encouraged to adopt the same philosophy.

Our relationship with GPIC is an excellent example of how exemplary health and safety can become part of a continuing success story.

Keeping Kids Safe – Arabic

GPIC has been a catalyst for taking RoSPA’s Brighter Beginnings appeal internationally.

Accidents are the biggest killer of children and young people With this in mind, we designed a Keeping Kids Safe web hub and pack, full of helpful tips and tools to help give little ones a safer start.

Inspired by the success of our Keeping Kids campaign in the UK, GPIC were moved to bring life-saving tips and tools to their own workforce.

In 2019, GPIC facilitated the transition of the popular Keeping Kids Safe web hub and pack into Arabic. By supporting the development and translation of these packs, it means that even more people across the globe now have access to life saving advice and tools.

Our relationship with GPIC is an excellent example of how exemplary health and safety can become part of a continuing success story.
